Nanoose Bay Cafe

Studio Series Interior Design, together with the family owners, brings a warm, timeless elegance to life with historical and natural design cues.

The storied pulse of Vancouver’s beloved steam clock in the heritage neighbourhood of Gastown, and nautical marine inspiration from the billowy homecoming sails of a Schooner tall ship returning to bay, set the mood of the design scape. The interior design instills the same romance into the Nanoose Bay Cafe that Studio Series Design created with the owners for the Water Street Cafe and 2nd Floor establishments. A sense of place, unique to each location, makes for a memorable destination experience.  At each venue, you find yourself in Love.  In Love with fresh food, with top local B.C. wines and with the live music and warm ambiance.

A passionately tailored recipe for a warm and welcoming atmosphere, The Nanoose Bay Cafe is designed for guests to relax into timelessness. Deep green hues alongside warm wood tones with golden patina’d brass accents bring instant forest-like peace and harmony, unifying the space. Reflected and framed ocean bay views with dappled moody pools of light create intimate moments.  Buttery leather booths wrap around you. Textured natural greenery and the rhythms of the wood grains create calming visual movement that mimic the tiny waves of the wind in the bay. The sea air drifts in.  A layered visual palette across site lines from varied seating throughout the space rise and fall like tidal communities. A handcrafted locally found wooden boat hangs above, amidst acoustic wood beam baffles and the custom artisanal Schooner Bar rises on the horizon line, like the majestic tall ships’ sails; an innate sign of joy and of homecoming. Golden era wainscoting and time worn details of etched mirrors line intentional pathways through the space to create a transportive atmosphere for all of the senses. Rhythm is palpable. An old world nautical mystique mixes with local market freshness bringing the Nanoose Bay Cafe experience alive.
