Waterstreet Cafe
Designed to bring a fresh new look to the heritage venue that feels like a trip back in time, Water Street Cafe is designed to be where you follow love. We added tall velvet rolls framed in walnut stained sapele wood for tall banquette backs, custom brass inlays and trim work, secret European style hidden pivoting bookshelf doors that open into the water view dining room, traditional wainscoting in a pattern derived from the iconic steam clock outside, Parisian wallpapered bathrooms with handcrafted tile work placed to feel like a vintage luxury rail car, and antique decorative staging elements to create a refined elegance for a well loved historic bistro in Vancouver’s main attraction corner in Gastown. By definition a ‘bistro’ weaves the elegance of traditional cuisine with the everyday aesthetics of the neighbourhood; there is a fine line where elegance must not be misconstrued as too fancy but rather accented as an underestimated refinement.
